Samra Mayanja wears a few hats but is neatly defined as a performance poet and visual artist. She collects stories and uses these tales (overheard, read or imagined) to pick apart human connection. Her work attempts to deconstruct collective joy, memory and pain. Beyond this, Samra is focused on shared creation of art as a vehicle for social and political change.
